London, 18 June 2008 – Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated (NYSE: JLL), the leading integrated financial and professional services firm specialising in real estate, has been selected as a winner of the first annual Sustainable Cities award, sponsored jointly by Financial Times and the Urban Land Institute.
The Sustainable Cities Awards honour global examples of innovative programs that advance the application of sustainability principles in the real estate industry. Jones Lang LaSalle was one of two winners in its category, Corporate Strategic programs, for its Portfolio Sustainability Management Program. Nine companies in all received awards across five categories.

The winners were announced by Awards Jury Chairman Reinhard Kutscher, chairman of the management board at Union Investment Real Estate AG, during the Sustainable Cities Awards & Conference, held at the East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf, London.
"The best way to assess sustainability is from the three angles of economic, social and environmental well-being," Kutscher said. "Those we honour today are leading positive change in sustainable land use. They are at the forefront of design and development techniques that are land efficient and energy efficient."
Jones Lang LaSalle was recognised for the Portfolio Sustainability Management Program, a multi-dimensional approach to energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial buildings around the world. As part of this programme, Jones Lang LaSalle last year helped companies save more than $38 million energy costs, reduce energy use by 210 million kilowatt-hours and avoid 133,000 metric tons of greenhouse gases.
In addition, Jones Lang LaSalle is an industry leader in assisting property owners in achieving third-party sustainability certifications such as LEED, BREEAM and Green Star, based on its expertise in engineering and operations, project and development services, facility management and strategic consulting services.
